Ariel School, Zimbabwe (16 September 1994) under-corroborated
During morning recess on 16 September 1994, as many as 62 children aged
6 to 12 at a primary school in Ruwa, Zimbabwe reported a silver craft
settling in the rough ground beyond the playing field and one or more
small figures with large dark eyes nearby. The children produced
independent drawings within hours; Harvard psychiatrist John Mack
interviewed twelve of them on camera three months later.
Ariel School is the corpus's purest experiential case: no physical
evidence whatsoever, only testimony — but testimony of an unusual kind,
from dozens of young children, gathered quickly, with independent
drawings and consistent reported affect, and examined by a Harvard
professor of psychiatry. It is the case that most directly pits the
psychosocial reading (suggestion, contagion, leading adults) against the
experiential reading (something happened to these children), with the
literal extraterrestrial reading as only one of several non-mundane

'message') that materializes only in the later interviews of a small subsample, cannot
bear 'phenomenologically-open' — which should be reserved for cases with corroboration
that resists prosaic accounting (instrumented data, multi-sensor, or physical residue).
The genuinely strong elements — many child witnesses, drawings made within hours — keep
it well above hoax or 'explained,' but correlated child testimony (the children had
conferred for hours before any interview) plus zero physical evidence is the textbook
