American abstract-expressionist painter (his work is in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum and the Guggenheim); from 1976 the foundational figure in the modern American abduction-research literature. Author of *Missing Time* (1981), *Intruders* (1987), and *Witnessed* (1996). Hopkins's hypnotic-regression protocol was the methodological model John Mack adapted in 1990.
