Billy Meier & the Plejaren Contacts documented-hoax
Billy Meier is a one-armed Swiss farmer who from 1975 claimed ongoing
telepathic and physical contact with humans from the Pleiades ('Plejaren'),
chiefly 'Semjase,' producing the largest body of 'physical evidence' in
contactee history — hundreds of sharp daylight 'beamship' photos, films, and
metal samples — which is widely documented as fabricated (models, props, and
re-photographed TV footage).
Meier is the second major contactee figure after George Adamski and the most
prolific producer of (faked) physical 'evidence' in the lineage. Together,
Adamski and Meier define the contactee template: a charismatic individual
claimant, benevolent human-looking 'space brothers,' channeled cosmic/spiritual
teaching, and a durable organization (FIGU) that verges on a religion. The case
is a clean teaching example of how a large volume of 'hard' evidence can be
fabricated, defended for decades, and sustained by a believing community
despite serial debunking.
Timeline
1975-01-28
Meier reports contacts resuming with Semjase (after claimed childhood
contacts with 'Sfath' and 'Asket'), beginning a decades-long series of Contact
Reports and producing 'beamship' photographs over the following years.

1970s-1980s
Meier produces over 1,000 photos, 8mm films, metal/crystal samples, and the
Talmud Jmmanuel; Wendelle Stevens mounts a multi-volume defense, and IBM's
Marcel Vogel reports anomalous behavior in a metal sample. Meier founds FIGU
and the Semjase Silver Star Center.

Skeptical findings accumulate: Meier's ex-wife Kalliope says the photos were
small models from household objects; Kal Korff identifies the 'Asket'/'Nera'
portraits as re-photographs of two 'Dean Martin Show' dancers; Meier responds
with a 'Men in Black adulterated my photos' rationalization after the exposure.

2000s-2010s
A re-analysis (Ivan Alvarado) overturns Vogel's metal findings: the samples
are ordinary terrestrial metals, the 'rare element' reading an EDS error (an
aluminum line overlapping the rare-earth band), reproducible with common
metals. FIGU continues as a belief community.

Named personnel
- Billy Meier (Eduard Albert Meier) — The claimant and founder of FIGU; producer of the photos, films, samples, and Contact Reports rank at time: role: the originator and prolific 'evidence' producer
- Wendelle Stevens — Retired USAF officer who mounted the multi-volume pro-Meier defense rank at time: role: the chief promoter
- Kal K. Korff — Author of book-length debunkings who identified the Asket/Nera portraits as 'Dean Martin Show' dancers rank at time: role: the leading skeptical exposure
- Kalliope Meier — Meier's ex-wife, who testified the 'beamship' photos were small models made from household objects rank at time: role: the insider testimony
Object — reported
shape
no real craft — 'beamship' discs in photos and films (matched to small models), and claimed human-looking Plejaren beings (Semjase, Ptaah)
size
the beamships consistent with small models posed/hung on the farm
surface features
the 'Asket'/'Nera' ET portraits identified as re-photographs of TV dancers; metal samples found to be ordinary terrestrial metals
observed behaviors
- the claimed telepathic and physical contacts and the channeled Contact Reports / Talmud Jmmanuel
- the production of unusually sharp daylight 'beamship' photos and films — the lineage's most prolific 'evidence'
- the documented mechanics of fabrication: model beamships, re-photographed TV footage, and ordinary metals, sustained by the FIGU community
Theories that invoke this case (3)
The corpus's primary reading: a quasi-religious belief system — benevolent Plejaren and channeled cosmic teaching — sustained by a devoted organization (FIGU) regardless of the evidence's authenticity.
The deliberate-fabrication reading: model beamships, re-photographed TV dancers, and ordinary metals presented as alien artifacts — a constructed body of 'evidence.'
The literal claim — physical contact with Pleiadian humans and their craft — recorded to mark the reading the model and TV-dancer findings defeat.
Theories that do NOT invoke this case — and why
a contactee claim, not a creature record
no genuine physical evidence — the metals are ordinary and the photos are models
a private contactee movement, not part of any government-disclosure arc
Conventional explanations advanced — and their status
An elaborate long-running hoax using models and props
proponents: Kal Korff · mainstream skeptics
The overwhelming consensus: the ex-wife's model testimony, the 'Wedding Cake' model match, the Asket/Nera TV-dancer identification, and Meier's own admission of using models to 'recreate' scenes.
The quasi-religious / community dimension
proponents: scholars of contactee movements
Strong as cultural interpretation: FIGU as a belief community sustaining the claims, the framing that gives the case its significance.
Genuine Pleiadian contact and evidence
proponents: Wendelle Stevens · FIGU / Michael Horn
Single-source and advocate-driven: confined to advocates, includes implausible post-hoc rationalizations (Men-in-Black tampering) appearing only after exposure, and is not accepted by mainstream skeptics or ufologists.
Where further investigation has leverage
- Photo/film analysis — model-and-suspension geometry and the 'Wedding Cake' model match.
- The Asket/Nera direct image match to named, traceable TV performers — among the strongest single debunks.
- The metal-sample re-analysis (Alvarado) showing ordinary metals and an EDS instrument-reading error, versus Vogel's original favorable reading.
Corpus status
documented-hoax
A prolific fabricated-evidence contactee case wrapped in a belief community: the
reasoning is cumulative and convergent — the ex-wife's testimony, the claimant's
own admission of model use, concrete object matches (the Wedding Cake model;
Asket/Nera as named, traceable TV dancers), and laboratory re-analysis
collapsing the one 'anomalous' physical claim into ordinary materials and
instrument error. The pro-Meier rebuttals are single-source, advocate-driven,
and include implausible post-hoc rationalizations. Filed as a documented hoax
that, with Adamski, anchors the contactee genre.
