Project Serpo is the claim — launched in late 2005 by anonymous emails to a UFO
discussion list — that between 1965 and 1978 twelve US military personnel secretly
traveled to a planet ('Serpo') in the Zeta Reticuli system as part of an exchange
program arranged after Roswell, a story promoted then publicly disavowed by its own
chief popularizer and widely read as an outgrowth of the Richard Doty
disinformation milieu.
Serpo is the internet-age archetype of the manufactured-belief /
counterintelligence-product pattern: the same 'insider leak with a Roswell
backstory and a slow drip of classified-sounding detail' playbook documented in
