aka Giorgio A. Tsoukalos (b. 1978) · Giorgio A. Tsoukalos · Giorgio Tsoukalos · Tsoukalos

Greek-Swiss promoter of the ancient-astronaut hypothesis and the on-screen face of Ancient Aliens — in every episode since 2009, co-executive producer since 2016 — and the source of the 'I'm not saying it was aliens, but…' meme.

Born in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1978 to a Greek-Swiss family, Tsoukalos graduated from Ithaca College in 1998 with a degree in communications and edited the ancient-astronaut magazine Legendary Times from 1999 to 2008. Since the 2009 pilot he has appeared in every episode of Ancient Aliens and has been a co-executive producer since 2016, making him the show’s most recognizable on-screen presence.

His distinctive delivery and hair produced one of the internet’s durable image macros — a still captioned ‘I’m not saying it was aliens, but… aliens,’ circulating since November 2010 — which Dictionary.com described as mimicking the tone of conviction used to present far-fetched claims as fact. Tsoukalos has said he embraces the meme. He is a promoter rather than a researcher: his role is to pose the ancient-astronaut question, and the corpus treats his claims as folklore-tier popular culture rather than evidence.
