The UMMO Affair documented-hoax
A decades-long fabricated-document campaign in which hundreds of typewritten
'letters from the planet UMMO' — plus staged 1967 UFO photographs bearing a
distinctive symbol — built a durable extraterrestrial belief system in Spanish and
French ufology, later confessed by Spanish parapsychologist José Luis Jordán Peña.
UMMO is Spain's most famous UFO case and the corpus's purest European specimen of

generated a self-sustaining extraterrestrial mythology and a cult-like following
almost entirely through fabricated DOCUMENTS plus a few staged photos — prefiguring
