Four friends on a Maine canoe trip saw an unexplained light in 1976, then thirteen years later, under hypnosis, recovered matching memories of being taken aboard a craft and examined; in 2016 one of the four called the abduction 'brilliant storytelling' they invented to make money.

In 2016 Chuck Rak partially recanted - ‘I wanted to make money,’ ‘brilliant storytelling’ - though he still affirmed seeing the craft; the other three rejected his claims amid a personal falling-out.
