In August 1976 four art-school friends (twins Jim and Jack Weiner, Charlie Foltz, Chuck Rak) reported a bright color-shifting sphere over Eagle Lake and a missing-time return to a burned-down campfire. After Jim Weiner suffered a 1988 head injury and seizures, investigator Raymond Fowler arranged separate hypnosis sessions in 1989 that produced matching abduction narratives - levitation, grey beings, a medical exam - published as ‘The Allagash Abductions’ (1993). It became a leading ‘multiple-witness’ abduction case until 2016, when Chuck Rak partially recanted, saying he supported it ‘because I wanted to make money’ and calling it ‘brilliant storytelling,’ while still affirming he saw the craft. The other three dispute his account amid an acknowledged falling-out.
