On 9 May 2001 Greer convened a National Press Club conference at which ~20 retired Air Force, FAA, and intelligence officers presented testimony about UFO/UAP experiences and urged Congress to hold hearings, drawing on a claimed roster of ~400 witnesses with recorded testimony (the book ‘Disclosure,’ 2001, compiled a smaller documented subset). Greer founded CSETI (1990) and the Disclosure Project (1993) as a whistleblower-amnesty effort. The witnesses are real, identifiable people with verifiable careers (e.g., FAA Division Chief John Callahan on the 1986 JAL 1628 case), but the testimony was anecdotal, not given under oath, and produced no documentary proof or hearings at the time; some witnesses (e.g., Clifford Stone) face credibility disputes. It is the corpus’s study of the disclosure-advocacy movement - testimony-as-evidence, the push for government acknowledgment - sitting alongside the institutional spine (AATIP/AARO/Grusch). The 2017-2023 developments (the NYT/AATIP story, Navy-video acknowledgment, AARO, Grusch’s sworn testimony) partially vindicated its general ‘there was secrecy / there’s something here’ thesis without confirming its specific cover-up claims, and Greer’s later record (promoting the Atacama ‘Ata’ as possibly alien; the unreproducible CE-5 contact protocol) is widely cited as damaging his credibility.
