IncidentThe Exeter Incident (3 September 1965, New Hampshire)
aka The Exeter Incident (3 September 1965, New Hampshire)
A teenager and two Exeter, New Hampshire police officers independently reported a large, silent, barn-sized object with sequentially-pulsating red lights at low altitude over a field; Blue Book first logged it 'unidentified,' then attributed it to a SAC exercise (B-47s), an explanation the witnesses reject.

After floating B-47 and temperature-inversion explanations, a January 1966 Air Force letter (Spaulding) conceded it was ‘unable to identify the object’; the close-range witnesses were two on-duty police officers and a teenager.

A 2011 skeptical analysis (Joe Nickell and James McGaha) proposed a KC-97 tanker’s sequenced belly lights and drooping refueling boom; pro-anomaly witnesses note no engine noise was heard at close range.
