IncidentThe Kingman, Arizona Crash Claim (alleged ~21 May 1953)
aka The Kingman, Arizona Crash Claim (alleged ~21 May 1953)
A testimony-only crash-retrieval claim that an engineer flown to the Nevada/Arizona desert in May 1953 examined a 30-ft intact disc and one small dead occupant — sourced almost entirely to one man under the pseudonym 'Fritz Werner' (real name Arthur G. Stansel), brought to prominence by Raymond Fowler (1973) and folded into Leonard Stringfield's crash-retrieval monographs, with no physical evidence and no independent corroboration.

Notable & intriguing
-
The case is single-source at its core — one witness testifying under a pseudonym (‘Fritz Werner’ = Arthur G. Stansel) two decades after the fact (affidavit signed 7 June 1973). No craft, body, photograph, or document has ever been produced; every later ‘corroborating’ witness is anonymous.

-
The accounts are internally inconsistent — Stansel’s affidavit is equivocal about the body while Stringfield’s separate anonymous sources describe multiple humanoids; a ‘Major Daly’ account dates a crash to ~April 1953, a month off Stansel’s date.

Stansel had a documented connection to nuclear-weapons testing (Operation Upshot-Knothole, 1953), and his recovery team was reportedly briefed that the object was a ‘super-secret test vehicle’ — the prosaic reading that he witnessed classified hardware and/or atomic-test effects, not an alien craft.
