On 9 November 1979 Robert Taylor, a sober, long-employed forester, was found dishevelled on Dechmont Law near Livingston, with grazed legs and torn trousers, reporting that a grey domed sphere and two spiked ‘sea-mine’ spheres had attacked him before he lost consciousness amid an acrid smell.
