Produced by AARO (the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office) under the FY2023 NDAA and publicly released 8 March 2024, the report reviewed all official US investigatory efforts since 1945 (revealing ~two dozen separate programs), researched classified and unclassified archives, conducted ~30 interviews, and partnered with officials overseeing special-access programs. Its key findings: no USG investigation ever confirmed any UAP sighting was extraterrestrial technology (‘none represent extraterrestrial or off-world technology’); no evidence supported the reverse-engineering narrative, and a piece of metal alleged to be from an ‘off-world spacecraft’ was assessed as ordinary terrestrial material; many sightings were misidentifications of never-before-seen experimental/classified systems (stealth aircraft, rockets, drones); the alleged Project Sign ‘Estimate of the Situation’ could not be located or verified; and much of the ‘hidden program’ lore stems from ‘circular reporting’ - a small group repeating inaccurate claims heard from one another over decades, amplified by social media. The most comprehensive official US skeptical assessment of UAP/crash-retrieval claims to date - the institutional counterweight to David Grusch’s 2023 testimony - while critics noted limits (classified-program access, scope, and that absence of evidence is not disproof).
